Google Editions eBook Store Launching...next year

Via Engadget, here.

Engadget (and a whole host of other blogs) have just reported that Google will be releasing its own ebook online store called Google Editions. What makes this a potential game changer is that it will over nearly four times the amount of books the Sony ebook store offers, and TWICE the amount of books the Kindle store offers. They will be available to any device with an internet connection, and after the purchase, can be used offline as well. How they can manage this without DRM issues is beyond me, but we'll see.

Going on the rumors that the Barnes and Noble device will use Android, Google's OS, it's safe to say that the B&N device will primarily tap into Google Editions. +1 for the B&N, full color e-Ink and touchscreen display device.

Keeping my eye on the prize...

Cheers,
Zach
